Editor's Review
📏✨ Introducing the ARCore Ruler app, a cutting-edge measurement tool that leverages the power of Augmented Reality to transform your smartphone into a versatile tape measure! 📐📲 This app is designed for anyone who needs to take quick and accurate measurements in the real world, whether you're a DIY enthusiast, a professional contractor, or just curious about the dimensions of objects around you. 🌍
⚠️ Please note that the AR Ruler app is exclusively compatible with ARCore-supported devices. Before downloading, make sure to check if your device is on the compatibility list: ARCore Supported Devices. ✅
The AR Ruler app employs augmented reality technology (AR) to allow you to measure real-world objects using your smartphone’s camera. Simply point your camera at the detected plane and start measuring! 🎯 Here’s a breakdown of the tools you’ll find inside:
- Line: Measure linear sizes in various units like cm, m, ft, yd, mm, or inches.📏
- Distance Meter: Measure the distance from your device’s camera to a fixed point on a detected 3D plane. 🔭
- Angle: Measure corners on 3D planes with precision. 📐
- Area and Perimeter: Calculate the area and perimeter of surfaces quickly. 📐
- Volume: Measure the size of 3D objects effortlessly. 📦
- Path: Calculate the length of any path you trace. 🛣️
- Height: Measure height relative to a recognized surface. ⬆️
📸📏 The Photo Ruler app complements the AR capabilities by allowing you to measure the size of any object either by taking a picture or measuring it directly on the screen. It’s designed to be as convenient and precise as a traditional ruler or tape measure.

How to Use the Ruler App:
Photo Ruler App:
- Ensure that the object you want to measure and an object of known length (Base Item) are in the same picture. The app provides a predefined list of Base Items like Debit/credit cards and Quarters. Choose the one closest in size to your object. 💳
- Make sure that the Base Item and the object are on the same plane, and the camera is (or was) parallel to them to avoid image distortions. 🧰
- Align the Blue arrows against the Base item and the Green arrows against the object you want to measure. The measured length will be displayed on your screen. 📲
Ordinary Ruler App:
- Use your screen as a traditional ruler. Place a small object on the device's screen and adjust the line limiters against the object to measure its size. 📏
- If the ruler scale appears stretched or shrunken, manually recalibrate it. You can calibrate the on-screen ruler using different Base Items, such as a Debit/credit card or coin. 🪙
- Choose between Imperial (inches) and Metric (centimeters) units for your measurements. 📏
Accuracy:
The accuracy of the app relies on the precision with which you align the markers. When done correctly, you can expect measurements as precise as those obtained with a traditional ruler or tape measure. 🎯
